Stephanie Plum at the start of the series is described as a girl whose luck is just not kicking no matter how much she tries. At the time she thinks that perhaps she is not in the right profession but then she has no other option. Day of doom and destruction comes for Stephanie when she lacks the rent money and with an empty purse, she is unable to stop the company which repossesses her car.
Having nothing to feed her empty stomach, the girl finally goes rogue and becomes a bounty hunter. Becoming a bounty hunter can provide her a lot of money but for this, she has to go after a big fish. The first big fish that she has to fry is none other than Joe Morelli who was once a high ranked police officer.
Her personal life was also affected by this person, it was he who raped her when she was just a teenager and then he decorated the bathroom wall with hideous details. Janet Evanovich gives Stephanie a very big mission in this first novel of the series that she has written.
Usually, such novels start with detailed introductions and some less gigantic missions. But the author was in no mood to give something of less magnitude to narrator C.J. Critt. A listener would surely be dying to get his hands on Two for the Dough and Three to Get Deadly after listening to this classic one by Janet. Janet makes the story a battle for survival for the main character that needs money to pay her rent also she goes after the man who has broken her psychologically at a young age.
