The story of this novel is set in LA in 1988. That was the time when a 16 years old girl got vanished from her home. Her dead body was found later on and she received a gunshot on the chest. It appeared to be a suicide at first, but there was some other evidence found that completely negated that scenario. The detectives believed that this was a murder. But still, nobody was charged so far.
Harry Bosch was back as a detective for LAPD. His sole mission was to close all of the unresolved cases and the case of that teenage girl’s murder was the first one he had. It was the DNA match that gave life to that case. The ripples from that death destroyed at least a couple of other lives. Harry Bosch discovered some hot rage, hot grief, and a bottomless well of malice and betrayal.
Michael Connelly sticks with his basics and delivered a very sharp, intelligent, and engaging police procedural. The Closers is a gem in the series and highly recommended.
