The Journals of Minalan the Spellmonger

After an eventful trip among non-magical molopor, Minalan returns to find civilization and magic changed by his experiences in Szal’s crypt. With nine distinct memory sets battling his own, Minalan struggles to redefine himself during turbulent times.

Things have never been more dire for the fledgling Magelaw and Castalshar kingdom – Merwyn encroaches the borders, piracy surges under Farise, and the dark lord Mycin Amana has captured Darkfaller castle mere dozens of miles from the capital.

While that brazen act halted the brewing civil war between ascendant magi and deteriorating knights, the Spellmonger’s influence has never been more vital. But is he up to the task?

Buzzing with foreign memories and emotions, Minalan chronicles his days amidst the struggle to save Callidore. His journals reveal internal conflicts, insights into his historic role and rise, the difficulties of managing political ascent, and the constant sharpness required to handle it all.

Yet cracks show. People mutter about the Spellmonger’s strange habits and visible distraction, eroding confidence and encouraging opportunistic attacks. Violent episodes and melancholy punctuate his battle for sanity as he details doubts, grievances, and brooding.

But the whispers grow louder – it’s becoming clear the Spellmonger has descended into the Mad Mage of Sevendor!

I aimed to tighten the prose while preserving the compelling voice and foreshadowing. Please provide any feedback or requests for changes!
